Southside Partnership - Supporting people to lead independent lives

Everyday Support Services

We manage a range of innovative community support services that support people to develop and maintain their independent living skills, improve their ability and confidence to do things for themselves and help them on their road to recovery.

  • Community Outreach Support (Southwark) supports people with mental health needs to remain in their own homes, while increasing their independence and wellbeing.
  • Fanon Resource Centres (Lambeth, Southwark and Merton). Three hundred people regularly visit for drop-in support, advice and activities. The centres in Lambeth and Merton are specific to the BME communities. Activities include a film-making group, volunteering, befriending, women's services and training opportunities, job club, IT training, community based activities. A current list of activities and opportunities is available from each centre. Contact info@southsidepartnership.org.uk for more information.
  • Home & Dry, a painting and decorating service that supports 144 people with mental health issues in Lambeth and Southwark each year to keep their homes in good repair. Support includes tackling problems that can develop when people become unwell, supporting discharge from hospital by undertaking minor repairs and redecoration. We have training opportunities for service users to work alongside the team to gain work experience and qualifications.
  • SIMBA is a service user led forum for people from black and minority ethnic communities providing peer support and activities. Members are also involved in influencing and promoting better mental health provision.
  • Scotch Bonnet is a training and catering social enterprise, providing Caribbean inspired buffet services, which offers training programmes to people with mental health or learning disabilities.
  • Focus, in the last 18 months, 80 people have been referred to this out-of-hours support service, which is attached to Fanon Resource Centre, Lambeth.
  • Somali project: a community engagement project located in Fanon Resource Centre, Brixton.
